Works of Art
“Don’t only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets, for it and knowledge can raise men to the Divine.” ~ Ludwig van Beethoven
April has been a season of transition here in Helsinki. Just a touch of spring on some days and the occasional flurries of snow, hailstones, blizzard and rains. And yet with every season’s change, Nature leaves a unique handprint in every passing moment. A mark of genius and inspiration. From wafer-thin ice sheets and miraculous ice-sculptures to frozen cascades of water, poetry is all around us.
Someitmes, the journey from one season to the next is as important and as beautiful as the long awaited arrival itself. I wish you a day of treasured discoveries!
Beautiful images, stunning views, think I may need to visit this part of the world!
Hi Kathryn! Thank you! Indeed, Finland is Europe’s best kept secret!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate it!
My dear, do you sell any of your photographs? They fill me with such awe and wonder. I would love to be able to wake up to the visage of them. What a beautiful, beautiful post. You have certainly awakened within me a very strong desire to see a Helsinski spring sometime in this short life. HUGE hugs, and let me know if you do sell your gorgeous artwork. I would love to buy some pieces.
Do you know how happy you’ve just made me?!!! 😀 Oh what a compliment my dear Angela…thank you so much. Message me your postal address and I’d be honoured to send you one. I think you’d love the Finnish lakes and summer cottages – far away from the madding crowd, at one with nature, hear the silence and touch the peace in this most serene part of the world. Come visit someday!
I would be honored beyond words to be able to treasure one of your pieces. How generous and kind of you–thank you, my dear, dear friend. I will send you some surprise thing of my own making in kind.
And, I’m really going to try to visit your dear Finland within the next five years. With one of your stunning photos as a reminder, I know I will make it happen.
I do like that quote! I came to art later in life and have been amazed at where it takes me. Especially lately, with writing. Expression is such a wonderful process of discovery.
A warm welcome and thank you for visiting! I have enjoyed reading your thoughts in writing very much. And I love your artwork! Are the prints made from wood blocks? I used to do a bit of print artwork on lino a very long time ago. Please do show us more and keep in touch! Sharon
My images are all created in lino, the ones with words a combination of lino block with letter press. How fun to discover you’re a print artist too!
