One Snowy Morning in Finland
I went for a walk one winter’s morn. Just to see what the world was like after a day of steady snowfall. And it lay hushed and still and contented under a pale, mellow sun. I wandered deep into the woods and out into the frozen sea. My tracks made a fresh trail in some places. The air was deliciously dewy and occasional showers of soft snow flitted from the snowy trees towering above. Blue tits and blackbirds squabbled over the best bites of bird feed. I had planned for just a short walk. I was home three hours later cold, hungry but my soul oddly satisfied with what my eyes had seen. I go to the woods and I am healed.
Beautiful pictures!
Thank you Jennifer and a warm welcome to Scandinavia! I really enjoyed reading about your experiences in Norway!
Did you take these photos? I’m seriously impressed.
Seriously impressed is the best review I’ve ever had from you! That makes every frostbitten finger in the taking of these photos so worthwhile! 😀 Thank you.
I especially like the photos with the red buildings in them. The bright red color is a stunning contrast to the pristine white of the snow. And the texture of the logs comes through clearly as well — almost real enough to touch.
Your beautifully crafted description brought the photos to life! Thank you and it was a pleasure to visit your lovely blog. I especially loved the piece on New England. Makes me want to take the same route and visit the houses of great literary figures and re-read some of their works.
I hope you have the chance to visit someday. I would recommend the trip. Especially Massachusetts. That was my favorite part!
Thank you for the beautiful pictures. So peaceful and serene.

Sharon, your photos capture everything I love about living in this frozen part of our world, just beautiful, you must give me some lessons some day x
Thank you Helsinkibabe! My brand of photography is somewhat similar to my cooking i.e self-taught, trial and error and pure simple enjoyment along the way 😀 Come join me!
WOW! Your endless talent….
Hugs Ee! I sometimes surprise myself too 😀
Healing pictures, healing words. Thank you for sharing these moments with us, Yeng.
One of the best things about living in Finland is the pristine nature which is so beautiful. My soul feels nourished just going for a walk in the woods. I’m glad if the photos have some of that effect on you too.
These are such amazing and beautiful pictures. Where were these taken at? The snow is so pretty and it seems like a nice calm place to relax and go through your thoughts.
Hi Jennifer and thank you for stopping by! These photos were taken close to the sea in Helsinki, Finland. You are right – it’s a wonderful place to reflect and be still within. I hope you continue writing! I’m interested to hear your thoughts.

Beautiful pictures. I love the first shot with the glimpse of a bike and bench in the snow and the picture with the snow covering the bark. 🙂
